Description

Selling a highly modified high-end Morris Minor Traveler woodie fitted on the complete running gear of a Mazda Miata. Three years to build at a parts cost alone of over $35,000. 1,000 perfect shakedown miles since completion earlier this year. Highlights are;

BODY; all new BL Heritage fenders front and rear, with all-steel three-inch flares to accommodate the wider track of the Miata. All new solid Ash woodwork from ‘Woodies’ with Sikkens Cetol marine sealer followed by four coats of Sikkens Marine varnish. All new aluminum panels behind wood framing. All-new steel floors, bulkheads and fender-wells. Hood is louvered. Front bumper is narrowed and filled to sit closer to the body, with custom steel valance. Rear bumper is custom-built one-piece with custom steel valance. Grille surround is new BL Heritage with chromed grille insert. All door sills and rockers are new replacement units. Chromed and polished roof rails. Chromed rear door hinge assemblies. Paint is Porsche Irish Green. All rubber moldings and window trim are new. Heated rear screens fitted. Front driving lamps are Lucas Healey 7” converted to high beams, plus Lucas Rover rectangular spot lamps. Rear lights are 1939 Lincoln tear-drop LED units plus Lucas reversing lamps.

RUNNING GEAR AND CHASSIS; Chassis is custom-built 2” square tubing blended into the Morris floor-pan to accommodate the front and rear sub-frames/power-plant frame from a 2002 Mazda Miata. Suspension units are fully adjustable coil-overs front and rear. All suspension bushing are new urethane units. Engine is fitted with cold-air intake and stainless steel exhaust system. Engine fully serviced before installation including new water pump, timing belt, etc. Stock Mazda auto-trans was serviced before fitting. Power-operated Wilwood front discs plus big brake rear disc kit. Custom-built 13-gallon aluminum fuel tank with filler located to avoid intrusion into the load area. Stock Mazda instrument panel has been incorporated into the Morris dashboard, allowing use of the Miata wiring harness, ECU, and ancillaries such as cruise control, power windows, power antenna, switchgear, etc. Wheels are 15” x 7” Konig Rewinds with BF Goodrich tires.

INTERIOR; Parchment grey interior is trimmed in leather and perforated pleather with dark green carpeting throughout, including load area. New matching headliner. Custom door panels, side panels and center console complete with Ash veneer inserts. Dash is modified to accept the Mazda instruments and Vintage Air A/C controls and grilles. Horn button and wheel caps are special-made enameled inserts. Rear seats fold down per the original Traveler to allow a flat load area. Front seats are Corbeau buckets on modified Mini sub-frames and slides. The RetroSounds II radio has two front and two rear speakers, is Bluetooth enabled, complete with microphone and two USB ports for media. All window surrounds have been re-chromed and fitted with new seals. Quarter-light windows are new. Windscreen is new. All new runners for sliding rear side windows.
