You are bidding on a one of a kind 1946 Hudson Super Six convertible. This is a named car. Such cars are usually in a museum. This is the 1946 Golden Hudson Jubilee Convertible. It was awarded as the grand prize at the 1946 Golden Jubilee held in Detroit, Michigan in June of 1946. It is also special in that it is the first convertible built in American after World War II. Many car manufacturers such as Chevy did not even build a convertible in 1946. This car was given a ground up restoration in the early 1980s. Most the pot-metal parts such as fender running lights, spears on the hood, grille ornament that hold the black plastic emblem, out side door handles, head light bezels, tail light bezels, trunk ornament were NOS when installed in the early 1980s. The woodgrained dash is a NOS unit. Even the kick panels were NOS. All 1946 & 1947 Hudson convertibles had a blue interior except this car. The interior is brown/tan. The door handles have matching brown knobs. The light switch and starter switch are NOS. The radio woks. Windshield towers are also NOS.
The Hudson was repainted in the late 1990s before being loaned to Jack Miller in Ypslanti, Michigan for display in his business. The Hudson has also been loaned to the Peterson Musem in L.A. and the Kissel Museum in Hartford, Wisconsin.
All stainless steel trim is in excellent condition.
Anyone is welcome to visit and inspect this Hudson.
A new top was installed about five years ago. Has rebuilt radiator and Golden Jubilee license plate from 1946.
